Endings and beginnings

It's April now and the academic year nears its end. That means that the adventures and challenges of this year are coming to a close and giving way to a host of new experiences for the coming year. For me, this is the last year of my residency and start of a fellowship. For Kim, it's the end of grad school and the start of clinical rotations. For others it means that it's time to start the last year of training or perhaps to start having the new responsibility of patient care as an intern or resident physician. In some ways it is scary, but in so many more ways it's exciting and such an answer to prayer. Surely, God has been faithful to us all through all of this.

Last week, Mr. Dr. Hensley talked with us about the defensibility of the faith particularly in reference to the Gospels and I think that it was so great to have so many people come to be a part of the fellowship. In the coming weeks, tests will certainly be on the mind as will other responsibilities; if you need to take a break from all of this, come join us on Thursday night when we can gather again and visit and learn more together.

In the meantime, consider what Paul says in Ephesians 3:14-19:
"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith - that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

God bless,
--Anthony

Change for March 5!! FPC Jackson @ 7:00pm

You might have seen in The First Epistle that this thurs at 1st Pres they are having Brian Habig speaking on " Called to the City - A Heart for Jackson ". While we know that med students have little time for community involvement ... eventually this " call " will come and impact all who are in the body of Christ. The opportunities for community involvement abound from the secular perspective ... and Drs Sam and Elizabeth have noticed over the years how many Christians get over involved in secular activities that have little impact on or for the progress of the gospel. They think this could be a highly beneficial night and could help us think through the relevance of this issue to our ministry and work as physicians. After all, we have been studying the Sermon on the Mount ... and this seems like a good talk to help us unpack what it means to be salt and light.

Pertinent info:
